To Forget, To Love

 Why are we here?

What brings us together?

Do you mean right now, in this room,

Or in the heavy air of this city, this country?

We came to escape.

To flee the sharp realities of our lives,

Leaving behind what we cannot fix,

Crossing the invisible lines they draw.

To remember? No, let us love.

To forget? No, but to find peace.

We gather here for the music,

A shield against the storm.

Because despite an evil world,

We know the no one is illegal.

And despite the wall they build,

We survive without their borders.

Just music,

Just peace,

And love.
